Body massages
Stéphane Jaulin has very carefully selected the practitioners that work in Appartement 217. Drawing on Western and Eastern traditions in this field, he has chosen to return to the simplicity and effectiveness of the body massage.
Physio-harmonising massage (deep massage/strong pressure) .
A true, complete massage performed by a physiotherapist based on the Eastern method, this deep-penetrating practice allows the body to regain its balance and revert to a correct posture, as well as easing pain and tension.
This intensive massage, which lasts exactly 90 minutes, is performed using oils produced by organic farms in Madagascar, which initially undergo cold extraction. These formulae were developed by Professor Lionel Michat, a renowned cardiologist, the only practitioner in his field to practice homeopathy. Each of the oils is selected on a case-by-case basis, in accordance with the individual’s characteristic problems relating to the skin, the mood and general condition.

Ayurveda massage
New, individually tailored, energising and invigorating, this Ayurvedic massage helps to eliminate fatigue, stress, the effects of lack of sleep, discomfort and apprehension. Deep-penetrating and holistic, and unique every time, this massage is a pleasant and intense experience. By listening to the needs of the body and mind, it produces a deep sense of relaxation, and allows you to truly unwind.
- This treatment, which is highly tailored to the individual, begins with an interview (general condition, possible problems, habits). The client lies on their stomach, and the massage gets off to a gentle start. On the entire back of the body, from the soles of the feet to the nape of the neck, a combination of palpation techniques is used: kneading, light touch, pressure exerted by the thumbs. The massage is performed using a top-quality sesame seed oil, a product of organic farming. This oil, which is a particularly good conductor of heat, and feels light on the body, is used at either a tepid or hot temperature, depending on the time of year.
- An intense, upward movement allows energy to circulate, and the body to relax and oxygenate itself in order to recharge itself with energy. From the feet to the hips, the practitioner’s hands gradually ease tensions, and work on the centre of the body, the true energy nucleus that requires particular attention. After focusing on the lower back region, the massage moves on the nape of the neck to achieve total relaxation. From the shoulders to the wrists, the practitioner concentrates in particular on the joints and massages the hands using a palmar reflexology method.
An imperceptible balancing force soon fills the entire body, improving the sense of balance. The eyes and the hands of the practitioner are focused at all times on the body.
- The massage continues with the same level of intensity with the client lying on their back. Particular importance is given to the massage of the stomach and the top of the pelvis. This central and sensitive area of the energy parts of the body is massaged for a considerable time with appropriate organic essential oils, chosen in accordance with the individual and the assessment drawn up at the beginning of the session. Their pure, light scents aid complete relaxation: bergamot, thyme, orange blossom, rosemary, etc. The massage slowly rises upward toward the shoulders, and then concentrates around the chakra of the throat. A deep massage with hot oil of the cranium, the ears and of specific points on the face is then offered.
- In accordance with the clients’ needs, a Kansu massage may be recommended as a supplementary reinforcement. This massage practice of the arch of the foot is performed using a metal bowl made in Kerala, India. This bowl, which is made from an alloy of 4 metals symbolising the 4 elements, is covered with sesame seed oil and pressed onto the sole of the feet using circular movements. The bowl stays in contact with the skin for the whole duration of the massage. This is a gentle reflexology method which stimulates the “grounding” of the body.
